Following the press release issued by the Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) on 6/2/2009 which called for an investigation into the fates of Dr. Mustafa al-Sheikh and engineer Musa Hamada and his brother Hasan Hamada who were arrested a year ago, SHRC has confirmed from informed sources that they were released on Wednesday 22/4/2009.
 
On this occasion, SHRC calls upon the Syrian authorities to release all detainees arrested on the basis of their conscience, opinions and beliefs, or on the basis of emergency and exceptional laws. SHRC also calls for an end to all arbitrary and oppressive arrests and for the termination of exceptional courts, and the SSSC first and foremost.
